I am all for cheesy alliterations. So here I am seizing the opportunity to write some things down for "Monday Mindset".
About a year ago a co-worker stopped by my office on a Monday morning, slumped down in the chair and said "Mondays are the wooooorst hey?" and I found myself immediately responding with "Really? I LOVE MONDAYS!!!" #eyeroll I know I know, you are thinking, we get it Mandi, do you want a prize for seeing the silver lining but hear me out...
What was your last week like? Thursday, Friday, Saturday....busy, errands, too much work, missed the gym more times than you intended, ate too many treats, had too many casual glasses of wine #guilty. This happens to everyone, including yours truly. I set weekly goals, I write them down, and feel proud of myself for making a beautiful little to-do list, and then well life happens. The week is done and I have finished a bottle my favourite red, have unfinished blog posts, and unwashed hair #always. I used to get so flustered because Queen Control Freak hated the disarray, I felt unaccomplished and defeated when I didn't live the hermit life, eat only according to my macros, and wash my hair at least once.
These days I take the opportunity each week to reset, reflect, and start fresh each Monday. I look forward to getting up early for a good workout, get to work early, have coffee, and take a look at my week. Last week wasn't perfect? Who cares, its Monday and its a great opportunity to finish a project, reset your eating patterns, and give yourself a goddamn break. You are human, life is not perfect, and no one will notice if your to-do list isn't all crossed out. What you can do is change your mindset. Why does Monday have to be negative? If you go to bed Sunday with excitement to start fresh, greet co-workers with a smile, and just generally be awesome, guess what, after a while of faking it, it will shift. You will start to look forward to a new week, and you will be that annoying #awesome person who posts motivational quotes, works out early, and irritates the otherwise miserable humans who choose the typical Monday mindset.
What will you do to shift your Monday Mindset? Let me know!
Yours truly in all things New New,
